Forget about the Batmobile — it’s all about the PAL-V One these days. Just like it sounds, this is a three-wheeled car that turns into a helicopter, and you don’t have to be a superhero to own it. Although, in order to fork out $295,000 for this puppy, you will have to be rich.

Sound too good to be to true? Well, believe it. This is how the PAL-V One works:

Converting the PAL-V ONE from airplane to automobile is a very easy process which takes about 10 minutes,” the Pal-V site says. “Once the engine stops, the propeller folds itself automatically into the driving position. Pushing a button then lowers the rotor mast into the horizontal position. The same motion lowers the tail. The outer blades are folded over the inner blades via hinge mechanisms. The last steps in the process are to push the tail into its driving position and secure the rotor blades. This conversion can be executed by the driver/pilot after just a short training lesson. To convert from driving to flying mode, simply reverse the sequence.”

Image via Facebook/Pal-V

Image via Facebook/Pal-V

The PAL-V One seats two people and has a 230 hp, four-cylinder engine that reaches speeds of up 112 mph in the air or on the road. It also has a 27-gallon gas tank which will take you 220 miles by flight and 750 miles by road.

So, grab your Sports Pilot certificate and that extra few hundred thousand you have sitting around and meet us on the landing pad.

Few cars are as liftoff-ready as a $400,000 Lamborghini Aventador. In a crash last week on posh Sloane Street in London, a young Lamborghini driver and his blonde companion nearly went into DeLorean mode when their car caught air after blasting off a Mazda station wagon just before drilling a parked BMW. No one was seriously hurt.

Considering the price tag of a new Aventador, it’s safe to say the repair bill will be costly for whomever is paying. A new model of this Lamborghini supercar starts at an MSRP of $397,000. Included in the package is a rocket ship-worthy 6.5-liter V12 engine capable of 700 horsepower on 507 lb-ft of torque. To look at it another way, if you took the engine power of five Toyota Corollas — the more powerful engine option, that is — and rolled them into one, you would have the heft of the Aventador engine that achieved liftoff in London last week.

The London neighborhood where Sloane Street is located is called the Platinum Triangle for a reason. Millionaires and billionaires call the area home and have been known to race expensive sports cars through the neighborhood to the chagrin of residents and local officials. A Ferrari 599 was filmed getting down to business in London last year.

Unlike the Lamborghini driver, whoever was behind the wheel of the Ferrari 599 made it through his joyride unscathed. What are the consequences for speeding and reckless driving in London ?

According to a CNBC report, the young millionaires from Russia, Africa and the Middle East who are fond of racing through the Platinum Triangle often avoid paying their traffic violations entirely. Apparently, barrelling through this exclusive London spot is a rite of passage for the wealthiest foreigners summering in England.

As for the black matte paint job on a Lamborghini Aventador, someone will have to pay the $14,000 the automaker charges for this option. The Mazda5 and BMW repairs should be much easier on the insurance company.

The Ryno one-wheeled motorcycle is the first vehicle of its kind. The electric vehicle has just one wheel, and it balances itself. The rider sits atop it with a seat and handlebars that resemble those on a traditional motorcycle.

And riding a completely street-legal Ryno is meant to be intuitive. Lean forward to make it go forward, lean side to side or use the handlebars to turn, and lean back to stop.

It’s not be the most practical mode of transportation, but it’s similar to a Segway in a lot of ways. It has a maximum speed of about 10 mph and can go just 10 miles on a single battery charge, according to the website. The Segway can go a marginally faster 12.5 mph.

But the likeness to the Segway may work in Ryno’s favor, according to the New York Times. Chris Hoffman, the founder of Portland, Ore.’s Ryno Motors, is hoping security officers will replace Segways with Ryno’s electric unicycles.

Ryno Motors

Ryno Motors

And Ryno does have a leg up on Segway in some ways. Because it’s around the height of a small motorcycle, an officer would be able to stand upright while straddling the Ryno. “He can look right at whoever he’s talking to, and if he has to, he can drop it and run after someone,” Hoffman told the New York Times.

The Ryno is also cheaper, retailing at $5,295. Segways typically cost $6,000 to $8,000.

The original idea for the Ryno actually came from Hoffman’s daughter Lauren, who was 13 years old at the time. She saw a single-wheeled motorcycle in a video game, drew a picture of it and asked her father if he could make it for her. That was seven years ago.

Now, the cartoonish vehicle is about to become a reality. Hoffman told the New York Times that he plans to begin delivering Rynos April 16. As of early last week, he’s already received about 100 orders.

During the Detroit Auto Show, Toyota rolled out this FT1 concept car that made lots of noise. Rumor has it that this is the second coming of the famed Supra of years past. Either way, this car signals a shift in the sports car market. Toyota, long known for making dependable but boring sedans like the Camry and Corolla, are throwing down the gauntlet. Expect a hot new sports car from Toyota in the coming years.

This car was designed by Calty Design Research, a design studio that does a lot of work for Toyota in North America. While this car is sexy, if you want to drive it, you’re going to have to pick up a copy of Gran Turismo 6 for Playstation. In GT6, you can download the FT-1 and race the hypothetical car as much as your heart desires. Until then, it’s just a mock-up of a really sweet-looking sports car.

Car blogger Tim Burton wanted to try something new for Christmas dinner this year. He skewered a turkey with a pitchfork and then brought in a Lamborghini Aventador.

The car owner revved the engine as much as possible, causing flames to spew from the back of the car and onto the turkey. And it only took 10 minutes to cook.

Still, Burton doesn’t recommend cooking with a Lamborghini, “unless you enjoy the taste of exhaust gases.”

This week has been marked by a number of incidents involving high end sports cars. Just a few days ago, Hollywood lost one of its great actors and driving stars, Paul Walker in a fiery crash in Valencia, California. Walker and a friend had left a charity event together in a red Porsche that was soon after involved in a horrific high speed accident.

Now, another crash has been reported to have involved high end sports cars, this time in the country of Malaysia. Three Lamborghinis collided and burst into flames after one of the cars reportedly veered from its lane of travel. There were five vehicles traveling together to the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The other two vehicles in the group managed to avoid tangling with the three vehicles that wrecked, and emerged unscathed.

https://twitter.com/mawarbellaa2/status/408795421599752193

One of the vehicles was a Lamborghini Aventador and the other two were Gallardos. The vehicles were worth close to $1 million altogether. The cars were not speeding, according to NBC News. The media outlet cites the local fire chief, Norazam Khamis, as saying that he did not believe the cars were speeding. He also reported that one of the cars was nearly completely destroyed and the other two were burned beyond any repair.

https://twitter.com/mawarbellaa2/status/408897092573097984

Super cars and other high end exotics keep making the news. Paul Walker’s crash was probably one of the most horrific incident of late. However, crashes like this one in Malaysia are not anything to take lightly. McLaren just reported that its new supercar, the P1, has nailed a time of less than 7 minutes on the world’s toughest race track. This car is capable of more than 200 mph, and many of these other exotic vehicles can also reach high speeds like this.

These vehicles are extremely attractive to celebrities, sports stars, and wealthy car enthusiasts. More of these cars are hitting the streets each year and with the increased numbers comes a higher risk. The motoring public must be aware of the fact that while these cars are attractive to look at, they can also be dangerous in the wrong hands; and in the case of Paul Walker, even an experienced driver can suffer the consequences of one bad decision.

McLaren Automotive

McLaren has been known for building amazing vehicles. Its F1 supercar was a much to be desired exotic vehicle, and its successor, the Mclaren P1 looks like it could be the best supercar in the world.

McLaren is a U.K. based automaker and while Britain may not be the first country that comes to mind when you think exotic cars, the P1 has already begun to prove its worth. The British company announced today that the McLaren P1 set an amazing time on the world’s scariest and most challenging track.

The Nurburgring-Nordschleife is both feared and respected by drivers from around the world. Located in Germany, the track features a winding course that is unmatched anywhere in the world. McLaren has refused to release its new supercar’s exact lap time, but they did announce that it was under 7 minutes.

A lap time of less than 7 minutes on this race track may not seem like that big of a deal to the average car owner, but to an enthusiast, it is an astounding time. There are only three other cars besides the McLaren P1 that can lay claim to a lap time of less than 7 minutes, and they are the Radical SR8, Radical SR8LM, and the Porsche 918 Spyder.

The P1’s average speed around the track was just over 111 mph, which seems reasonable for a vehicle that can attain speeds of 217 mph. However, one look at the grueling 13-mile course could very well change the most hardened opinion on that point. The track has 154 corners, and touts an elevation change of 300 meters, or 984 feet.

The McLaren P1 is not the fastest supercar in the world. That title is held by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. However, the P1 is designed to handle corners, which gives it an obvious edge on courses like the Nurburgring-Nordschleife.

Watch the video below to see the P1 in action.

Yesterday marked the end of an era for Lamborghini and car lovers worldwide, as the very last Gallardo rolled off the assembly line in northern Italy.

The Gallardo was Lamborghini’s best-selling model ever, but that doesn’t say as much as you’d think. The car debuted in 2003, the same year the Italian automaker decided to ramp up its production rate. Instead of making 250 cars per year, Lamborghini began manufacturing about 2,000.

In the past 50 years, Lamborghini has manufactured around 30,000 cars total. Despite Gallardos being made only for the last 10 years, they account for nearly half the total — 14,022. This includes the vast array of special editions such as the Spyder, each one seemingly pricier than the last. According to Automobile Magazine, a basic Gallardo would set you back $191,900.

The very last unit, a red Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante, has been purchased by a private collector.

Flying-Car-Is-Now-A-Reality

Terrafugia, a privately held American company, has been developing something that has been a dream of mankind for many years – a flying car. Its innovative Transition has brought the reality of finally being able to own a drivable vehicle that is also able to fly to life. This small, but versatile aircraft/car can be stored at home in your garage and driven right up to the fuel pump at your local gas station.

The company’s site tout’s the Transiton, its compact airplane/car, as being fuel efficient and plenty strong enough to handle your needs. The specs for the vehicle give it a 410 mile range on a single tank of fuel, which by the way is nothing more than premium gasoline. It can achieve a cruise speed of 100 mph, and requires only 1,700 feet of runway to take off. It can haul a load of up to 500 pounds and at cruise speed it only burns 5 gallons of fuel per hour. It performs equally well on the ground, with a nice 35 mpg rating while being driven around town.

Flying-Car-Is-Now-A-Reality-

The future may be upon us, as this could lead to many people becoming interested in owning a flying car. For the price of $270,000.00 you can reserve yours now!

This is what Terrafugia’s site has to say about the Transition:

The Transition® brings a new level of freedom, flexibility, and fun to personal aviation by combining driving and flying in one state-of-the-art vehicle. Glass cockpit avionics, carbon fiber construction, and innovative mechanisms make the Transition® easy and fun to fly, drive, and convert. A steering wheel and gas and brake pedals on the ground make it familiar to drive while a stick and rudder pedals provide responsive control in flight.

By being able to land and drive, not only is the “last mile problem” solved but inclement weather will no longer stop your trip. Running on premium unleaded automotive gasoline, the same engine powers the propeller in flight or the rear wheels on the ground. Converting between flight and drive modes is comparable to putting down the top on your convertible and you can keep the Transition® at home in the garage: flying has never been so convenient!

Flying-Car-Is-Now-A-Reality--

Future Is Bright

It looks like the future for Terrafugia is definitely bright, as the innovation their team has show in building the Transition is truly amazing. The airplane is not only street legal, but is also economical to operate, and capable of shortening the amount of time spent while traveling.
