North Korea Threatens ‘Merciless’ Attack On U.S. If Seth Rogen’s New Movie Is Released
In the latest bizarre and ridiculous move by North Korea, the country’s government has issued a statement warning an attack on the U.S. if Seth Rogen’s and James Franco’s new film, The Interview, is released this fall, the Guardian reports.
The comedy, set forrelease Oct. 14, has Rogen and Franco playing two journalists who are commissioned by the CIA to kill Kim Jong-un, North Korea’s current supreme leader. The country’s government said in an official statement that the U.S. government’s failure to stop the movie’s release would be considered “an act of war.”
North Korea’s official news agency KCNA attributed the comments to an unidentified foreign ministry spokesman who said the film had ignited a “gust of hatred and rage” among North Korean officials and soldiers, adding that the U.S. would receive a “merciless and resolute response” if the movie’s release is unchanged.
The act of making and screening such a movie that portrays an attack on our top leadership… is a most wanton act of terror and act of war,” KCNA news quoted the official. “And is absolutely intolerable.”
While there’s been no official statement from the U.S. government or anyone involved with the film, Seth Rogen has taken to his official Twitter account more than once to express just how ”seriously” he is taking North Korea’s big, bad threats.
Apparently Kim Jong Un plans on watching #TheInterview. I hope he likes it!! http://t.co/5VrsgYlydE
