Watch These Adorable Otters Put On A Mean Show Playing The Keyboard (Video)
What happens when you put a keyboard in front of a group of otters? They put on one intense show that might give even the best music composers a run for their money.
That’s exactly what happened during one of the Smithsonian National Zoo’s enrichment programs. A group of Asian Small-Clawed Otters were filmed seemingly having a blast while playing a series of masterpieces on the keyboard. And we have to say, they probably sounded better than a lot of humans.
The National Zoo’s daily enrichment programs aim to expose animals to stimulating environments that help them to demonstrate “their species-like behavior” and increase their sense of well-being. For this case of otters particularly, the keyboard—although not necessarily something they’d just come across in the wild—was a tool that was meant to help engage the animals’ senses of sight, touch and hearing all at once. Plus, it looked like it was a lot of fun.
